The way I see it, school nurses are just stay at home moms that need something to do and thought, "Well, ever since I watched Grey's Anatomy I wanted to be a nurse..." But I won't complain too much. I have gone to the nurse and just layed down and napped because I said my stomach hurt, but really, the next block I had a test in and forgot to study for it. I mean, is "nurse" an appropriate title? They don't diagnose you, they can't even give you an Advil! They just pat you on the back and say "Sucks to suck."
And I'm sure they aren't rolling in "dough" either. I mean, they shouldn't. It's probably the easiest job in the world! All you have to do it put the kid's symptoms in Web MD and just tell them whatever spits out. Sorry kid, looks like you've got the Black Plauge. But, by saying this, I must be offending some 40 year old soccer mom out there who "believes" in the power of the nurse. Sorry mom! But not really. The position of school nurse it a sham. You have no one to impress. Your boss is never going to get mad at you, because you don't do anything to start with. From now on, I think I'll just look up my symptoms on the Internet myself.
