Spider-man, as most people know, is a teen superhero who swings from skyscraper to skyscraper with the web that he miraculously shoots out of his wrists? His fingers? I have never been able to tell. But what I do know is that our Spidey is just a super wanna be.
The beginning of this hero's downfall would have to start when he was created. Although the idea was interesting, and the writer's intentions were good, Peter Parker's powers are only helpful when he's in an urban setting. Just imagine if he was somewhere in rural Nebraska and someone called for help. Spider-Man would be swinging from the two tallest buildings in town, screaming, " I can't reach you! Can you get a bit closer?" But, his sucky powers aren't the only reason Mr. Parker's reputation is going down the drain.

As a kid, I enjoyed Spider-Man. I adored Tobey Maguire's work in the earlier Spider-Man movies. He was able to capture the nerdy Peter Parker we all know and love, but after the first Spider-Man film, it all went downhill. As many sequels do, the Spider-Man movies just couldn't live up to the excitement of the first. After the trilogy, we didn't hear much from Spidey. It was a time that I like to call the period of the empty web. But what came next was worse than any bad sequel or cheap Halloween costume...
As soon as Sony got a hold of the rights to Spider-Man, all hell broke loose. They decided to go in the direction of heart-throbbing teenagers when it came to the remake. They completely trashed the original story and made everything up as they went. Peter is supposed to be with Mary-Jane! Mary-Jane isn't even in the remake! How dare they? People wonder why Spider-Man isn't in the Avengers, and it's because Peter Parker is an emotionally confused teenager! (And because Sony still has the rights to Spider-Man). At least they could have had some kind of cameo where Tobey has a cool line or something!

Well, if he can't save rural citizens or make a good movie revamp, he sure as hell can make a funny meme.
